JK Rowling and the cast of Harry Potter threw their support behind Evanna Lynch in a series of video messages ahead of the Dancing with the Stars final.

Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood in the wizarding franchise, reached the final of the US show with her partner Keo Motsepe.

Rowling cheered on the actress, throwing her hands in the air and shouting: “Best of luck, Evana. Hope you win!”

Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger, filmed a message telling her former co-star to “kill it tonight, girl”.

Lynch’s father Donal also made a plea to ex-pats in America to vote for his daughter on the ABC show as she went up against US model Alexis Ren, US radio star Bobby Bones and actor Milo Manhiem in Monday night’s final.

Despite the messages of support, Lynch was unable to take home the mirrorball trophy which went to Bones.

Lynch thanked her fans for all of their support, saying it “meant the world”.
