Jade Thirlwall has admitted to feeling ‘unsettled and scared’ about the attention of a fan who has been cleared of stalking her.

Nabeel Waseem, 33, has been given a restraining order to keep him away from the Little Mix star after he was formally cleared of stalking her following a hearing at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

Waseem was arrested back in January after visiting Thirlwall’s grandmother in South Shields after the pop star posted an Instagram picture saying that she was having a sleepover at her “nana’s.”

He was warned by police that, should he wish to make contact with Thirwall, he should go through her record label.

Waseem, of Wandworth, London, then contacted her management to say that he was dying of epilepsy, had spent thousands of pounds on Little Mix tickets and albums and wanted to work for them for free.

Clare Irving, prosecuting, said: "She felt nervous, unsettled, scared for her own safety and that of her family. She felt harassed and in fear of physical violence.

Geoffrey Forrester, defending, said Waseem was motivated by his belief that Little Mix deserved better management than Simon Cowell.

"He cannot plead guilty because he doesn't accept he has done anything wrong," his solicitor said.

"His motives were entirely well-intended. He wishes nothing but the very best for the group."
