Game Of Thrones star Gwendoline Christie says she is “living proof” gender stereotypes can be beaten.

The 6ft 3in actress, who was once told she was too tall to get work, played knight Brienne of Tarth in the show and is starring as Titania in A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Bridge Theatre.

She said: “Even when it feels impossible to change society’s narrative, there is always hope — particularly for a life working in the arts. And I am living proof of that.”

She has teamed up with Rankin on a short film for the Rolls-Royce Phantom and said it was “powerful to see a woman in charge of and enjoying this machine”.
