Stormzy has been tipped to headline Glastonbury Festival in 2019.

In an interview with Zoe Ball on Radio 2, Emily Eavis confirmed that the headliner on Friday is new and claimed they were “one of the most exciting acts in British music.”

She added that it’s a chance for “him” to become the “massive name that they can be.”

Festival site eFestivals claimed that they have had evidence that Stormzy is confirmed for the Friday night with either Childish Gambino or Liam Gallagher also set to perform that night.

It said that The Cure on Saturday and Paul McCartney on Sunday “seem plausible”.

Stormzy performed on the Other Stage during last year’s Glastonbury and drew a large crowd.

Earlier this year, he sparked rumours he would be headlining 2019’s festival after he uploaded an Instagram story with a post copying Noel Gallagher’s quote about Jay Z headlining the festival in 2008.

After the confirmation of Jay Z, Noel Gallagher said: “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. If you start to break it then people aren’t going to go. I’m sorry, but Jay Z? No Chance.

"I'm not having hip-hop at Glastonbury. It's wrong."

Paul McCartney isn’t the only act to be tipped to headline.

Kendrick Lemar, Madonna and Bruce Springsteen are other names who have been tipped to potentially headline.

Emily Eavis denied that Fleetwood Mac would be performing and said that Kate Bush, Led Zeppelin and Tom Waits were on her wishlist for future festivals.

Tickets for Glastonbury sold out in 32 minutes with more re-sell tickets available early next year.
