Harry Styles is first UK celebrity to reach 30 million Twitter followers

He topped the charts with his debut solo single, and now Harry Styles is King of Twitter.

The 23-year-old, has become the first UK celebrity ever to gain 30 million followers on the micro-blogging site.

The big feat has earned him a following bigger than the population of Nepal, which currently stands at 28.8 million.

The record breaking achievement comes days after he knocked Ed Sheeran off of number one with his single, Sign Of The Times.

But Styles' former One Direction bandmates look set to challenge his 30 million followers with Niall Horan's current tally standing at 29 million.

Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Zayn Malik also made the top 10 most followed UK celebrities on Twitter with individual followings rivalling Australia, Taiwan and Sri Lanka.

Other stars making up the top 10 include Adele, Emma Watson, Sheeran, Wayne Rooney and Simon Cowell.

Styles - who is rumoured to be dating food author Tess Ward - has been busy promoting his self-titled debut solo album.

On Monday he kicked off his week long residency on The Late Late Show with a performance of Sign Of The Times and the news that he will be starring on Carpool Karaoke.

Styles will join host James Corden for a spin around Los Angeles for the popular skit which will no doubt see him sing a handful of his new singles.
