One Direction fans hoping for a reunion have been left disappointed after Harry Styles revealed the band have no immediate plans to get back together.

Styles, 22, said he would never rule out a reunion, but insisted the boys are all enjoying their new careers.

Speaking to Another Man he said: “When we started people always asked: ‘Where do you think you’ll be in five years?’ People always ask, right? It’s a difficult question to answer.

“I would never say we’ll never do anything again, but it’s good for us to be exploring different things. Maybe at some point everyone will want to do something again, but it is better if it happens naturally.”

Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik found fame as One Direction on The X Factor in 2010.

Malik left the band in March 2015, 10 months before the band parted ways.

Styles has since gone on to star in Christopher Nolan's new war epic, Dunkirk – a move he said took him out of his “comfort zone”.

Speaking about his career change he said: “I was nervous but it’s going good I think.

“It’s something I’ve always wanted to explore, but I was busy with the band, so I never felt like I had time to do it the right way. When we took some time off, I thought I’d see if it might work.

“It’s a challenge, but it feels good to be out of my comfort zone.”

His co-stars have praised his acting debut with Mark Rylance hailing him "remarkable".

Rylance told the Standard: “He seems remarkable ... one of those people [who has] — Sean Penn has it too — a kind of panache. I look at them and think, ‘How did you get that? How do you get so that life is easy?’ But he has got a lovely, lovely character. It’s a gift.”

Cillian Murphy said of the musician-turned-actor: “Harry Styles is great. I had very few scenes with Harry but we got to hang out and I’ve got to say he’s a great, great kid, and really, really funny.

“Above all, Chris Nolan [the director] knows talent and would have cast Harry for a reason.”
