After an Evening Standard poll this week revealed support for the royals was at a 20-year high, author Leonie Frieda shows even the lesser-ranking royals warrant a low curtsy.

The Swedish-born author curtsied to Prince and Princess Michael of Kent as they attended a party for her new book, The Deadly Sisterhood, at Kensington Palace last night.

Frieda, who is close friends with the couple, also took her daughter Elisabeth along to the launch. Her book chronicles eight Italian Renaissance women, including Catherine de Medici, from whom Princess Michael is descended.
