Charlize Theron has revealed she quit smoking cannabis because it made her “boring”, declaring herself a former “wake and baker.”

The Oscar-winning actress, 42, said she used to be a regular smoker but kicked the habit when the cannabis stopped agreeing with the “chemistry” of her body.

The Mad Max star told E! News that her attitude towards smoking marijuana has “totally changed” as she has grown up.

She said: 'I was a wake-and-baker for most of my life. I really appreciated marijuana way more than alcohol or anything else.

“My chemistry was really good with it when I was younger and then it just changed one day.

“Like, in my early thirties I just became boring on it and I would just stand in front of my fridge, so that's no good. It totally changed, so I stopped.”

However, the Atomic Blonde actress added that she wouldn’t rule out trying her hand at the drug again, admitting she may use it to help with insomnia so that she can stop taking her sleeping pills.

The star has previously revealed that she enjoyed “experimenting” with class-A drugs such as cocaine and ecstasy.

When asked about ecstasy, she added: 'I had a f*****g great time.

“I didn't do a lot of it but I definitely did in my 20s.”

Therzon has since settled down and is mother to two adopted children, aged six and two.

She joked: “Now I am asleep by 8.45pm and I love it and I love it, love it. I wake up at 6.30am. I have to make two lunchboxes.”
