A-lister Jada Pinkett Smith has hit back at the 'stigma' that is attached to women's 'sexual freedom' in today's society.

The mother-of-two, who is married to actor Will Smith, admitted that she hopes her role in new film Magic Mike XXL will 'empower' women and make them feel more 'sexually liberated'.

Speaking to Yahoo, she said: "I really want it to embody a woman who is just a sexually enlivened creature, that women have the right to be as sexually enlivened as a man, and that it’s healthy, inspiring and rejuvenating.

"I think it's the way in which society thinks that women should relate to sex. I think that society believes that men have the license to have sexual freedom and women don't.

The 43-year-old added: "When women take the license to have sexual freedom they are given a stigma and that's why."

Pinkett Smith stars as Rome in the stripper sequel, the MC for Channing Tatum's troupe of strippers.

Tatum, who used to be a stripper before making it big in Hollywood, has spoken out about potentially returning to his roots one day.

In an interview with Vanity Fair, he recently said: "I wouldn’t mind going out there and doing it one more time.

"Or maybe twice. But, you know, every time I’ve put on a thong and am getting ready to walk onstage again, I’m like, ‘Why do I want to do this?’ It’s very uncomfortable to be in a thong in front of a thousand people.”
