James Cameron has announced plans for at least four more films in the Avatar franchise.

The award-winning director, who released the original film back in 2009, will make four follow-ups over the next few years.

Speaking at CinemaCon this week, Cameron said: “We have decided to embark on a truly massive cinematic process.

"I've been working the last couple of years with a team of four top screenwriters to design the world of Avatar going forward: The characters, the creatures, the environment, the new cultures.
