Little Mix star Jesy Nelson has said she had a panic attack while the girl group were performing in BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge.

The girl group took to the stage to perform their new track Holiday, followed by a cover of Falling by Harry Styles.

However, just before they were about to sing, Nelson had an attack and bandmate Perrie Edwards had to fill in for her.

She shared a video of the group rehearsing their performance of Falling, and wrote on Instagram: “Rehearsals. So my nerves got the better of me today and I had panic attack right before we were about to sing this for live lounge today and like a pro @perrieedwards jumped in for my part last minute and smashed it.

“This is what we originally did in rehearsals.”

Video of the incident shows Nelson's bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards walking across the stage to comfort her.

They stood with Nelson for a few moments as the radio station cut to another song.

A crew member then walked over to Nelson and appeared to take off her sound equipment.

Nelson has spoken openly about her battle with anxiety in the past and previously revealed in a BBC documentary that abuse on social media got so bad she attempted to take her own life.

Fans posted screen recordings of the moment on Twitter, sending their best wishes to Nelson.

“it's the way the girls immediately went to comfort jesy, bless her, so proud of jesy i hope she knows how loved she is and how amazing she is,” wrote one user.

“We love you so much Jesy @LittleMix, just hope you're okay and know we'll always have your back,” wrote another.

A third wrote: “Really hope Jesy is okay We love you! (She started crying after they performed Holiday).”

Other fans also posted messages calling for people to stop sharing the video of Nelson, urging others to respect her privacy.

Nelson returned to the set after the pause.
