Kanye West is “an incredible curator” according to his latest protégée — who praised him for giving her creative freedom on her debut EP.

Kacy Hill was signed by West to his GOOD Music label last year after she appeared as a backing dancer on his Yeezus tour.

There is now a buzz around the former American Apparel model, 20, who released her first single Experience independently last year.

She plans to release her first record under GOOD in the autumn and has teamed up with Rankin in her latest video, for the single Foreign Fields.

Speaking in the latest issue of the photographer’s magazine Hunger, she said: “Kanye is an incredible curator. I’m thankful to have GOOD music involved in the early stages of my career because I’ve been given a great deal of freedom — something that I’m realizing more and more as a massive luxury for a new artist. Kanye does an incredible job of letting me do my thing and then tightening the ends to put out a great product.”

She added: “I’ve been given great advice to have my own vision instead of relying on labels, managers, producers, creative directors, et cetera, to tell me what I should look like and what I should create.

“I’ve spent the greater part of the last year or so in the studio and it’s given me an incredible opportunity to figure out who I am as an artist. I’m focusing on creating a body of work that’s consistent and innovative and timeless.”

The video for Foreign Fields will be premiered on Hunger TV tomorrow at hungertv.com.
