Kanye West looked like he was jumping ship when he deleted all of his tweets about Jay Z’s controversial music-sharing app, Tidal.

But the star has now responded to reports that he has cut ties with the music service, by posting a supportive new tweet.

The day after it emerged that Tidal’s ranking on iTunes had plummeted, West’s original tweets disappeared, including:

“Together, we can turn the tide and make music history. Start by turning you profile picture blue. #TIDALfor ALL.”

But it seems that the rapper was simply tidying up his timeline and getting rid of old tweets, rather than withdrawing his support for the company.

Jay Z faced a rather major public backlash after launching the music streaming app last month, after it emerged that the artists involved would be profiting from the streams.

Tidal peaked at number 27 on iTunes three weeks ago, but has since dropped out of the Top 700 and is sitting at number 51 in the music app charts.

While Tidal’s ranking continues to drop, rivals Pandora and Spotify are still in the Top 5.

Jay Z reportedly bought the company for a staggering $56 million in March and was supported by big names including Madonna, Nicki Minaj and Rihanna at the launch event.
