Katy Perry confirmed to perform at Brit Awards 2017

Katy Perry has been named as one of the performers for this year’s Brit Awards.

The US pop superstar will take to the stage at next week’s annual music event at the O2 alongside the likes of Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams and Little Mix.

Perry, who debuted brand new single Chained To The Rhythm last week, said that she was looking forward to returning to one of her ‘favourite countries’.

“I’m excited to come back to one of my favourite countries, where most of my favourite musical influences come from. After three years, I’m excited to return to the Brits’ stage to kick off a new era of purposeful pop,” she said.

She later posted on Twitter: “YAY 2nd chapter of #ChainedToTheRhythm continues in LONDON!”

Brits chairman Jason Iley said on Tuesday morning: “Katy Perry, one of the biggest artists in the world, is the perfect artist to complete our incredible 2017 line-up.

“She’s a global superstar who will bring even more glamour, fun and excitement with her exclusive UK Brits performance next week.”

This year’s ceremony will also feature performances from The 1975, Skepta, Bruno Mars and Emeli Sande.

Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis were recently announced as co-hosts after Michael Bublé was forced to step down following his son’s cancer diagnosis.

This year’s Brit Awards take place at the O2 Arena on February 22.
