Katy Perry showered with kisses during awkward encounter with fan

US pop star Katy Perry was showered with kisses by an over-excited fan when she invited her on stage.

Perry, 30, suffered the awkward encounter when she took her Prismatic World Tour to Brazil’s Rio de Janeiro for the city’s annual Rock in Rio Festival.

Taking to the stage the fan – who was dressed in black shorts and a yellow bralet with smiley faces – dived in for a hug with the California Girls singer before kissing her neck.

Clearly overwhelmed to be meeting her favourite singer, the girl couldn’t find the words to answer the Teenage Dreams singer when she asked if she was a 'Katy Kat'.

Instead she continued to grab Perry for a hug and repeatedly kiss her hand.

Perry told the crowd: "I think she's rolling!" before attempting to end the awkward encounter by taking a string of selfies with the enthusiastic fan.

The Wide Awake singer pulled out all the stops for the concert on Sunday night and dazzled the audience in a metallic silver skirt with a mathcing crop top before switching into a multi-coloured dress.

She powered through a string of her favourite hits as stars including Rihanna watched on.
