Kylie, whose reunion with Jason Donovan at the Hit Factory Live concert was cancelled at the last minute, cheered herself up with a trip to the Duchess Theatre for the VIP gala night of the Hurly Burly Show.

The Burlesque-inspired show features the singer's music and is directed by William Baker, who has worked as her stylist.

Tthe cancellation of the Hit Factory Live concert in Hyde Park means such a line-up will never be matched again, it was claimed today.

The show — billed as the biggest Eighties pop reunion, with a planned duet by Kylie Minogue and Jason Donovan — was called off after heavy rain turned the park into a mudbath.

Brother Beyond singer Nathan Moore, who was due to perform, said it took five years to assemble the line-up, which included Rick Astley, Hazell Dean, Sybil, Sinitta, Bananarama and Steps. For many of the smaller acts, the exposure to an audience of more than 50,000 would have meant a surge in sales of their back catalogues.

Moore, 47, said: “I’m gutted and everyone is devastated. I can’t see this group of performers ever getting back together. Kylie and Jason on stage at the same time would have been pop history and it probably won’t ever happen again. We’ve been robbed of it.”
