Lady Gaga sent Nick Grimshaw into a panic when she accidentally swore on BBC Radio One.

The 30-year-old singer joined Grimshaw to co-host Friday morning’s breakfast show – but couldn’t rein in her “potty mouth”.

Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – made the slip up as she spoke about her comeback single, Perfect Illusion which she described as “the new s***”.

Grimshaw quickly apologised to listeners before Gaga added: “I apologise to those listeners, I have a potty mouth.”

Fans of the Monster singer didn’t appear to be offended by the language with one writing: “Just heard Lady Gaga swear on radio one. I didn't even realise until her and Nick Grimshaw apologised.”

Another wrote: “Well that made me chuckle hearing lady Gaga swear live on the @BBCR1 breakfast show #LadyGaga.”

Gaga was on the show to discuss the new pop single, which marks her first since 2013.

The track was co-written and produced by Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker and Bloodpop and features a duet with Florence Welch.

Speaking about the Florence and the Machine singer she said: “There’s a feature on the album that I think you will be very excited about. Me and Florence Welch did a duet together.

“I started to work on an idea for a song that I really wanted to do with a girl. You’ll see why when you see what the song is about.

“I just thought ‘who do I want to sing with?’ She’s really to me if not the best, one of the greatest vocalists in the world. She’s incredible.”
