Liam Hemsworth has confirmed his split from wife Miley Cyrus in an Instagram post, telling fans that he wishes his ex “nothing but health and happiness” in the future.

The actor, 29, shared a photo of the beach at sunset earlier today on his personal account.

“Just a quick note to say Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward,” he wrote.

He described the split as “a private matter” and said that he would not be making “any comments to any journalists or media outlets” before wishing his followers “peace and love.”

News of the break-up emerged over the weekend after a representative for Cyrus told People magazine that the singer and the Hunger Games star “have agreed to separate at this time.”

“Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers,” the statement continued.

“They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.”

Cyrus broke her social media silence following the split on Sunday night, sharing a photo of herself stood in front of a mountain in the Dolomites with a cryptic caption that also referenced “evolution.”

“Don’t fight evolution, because you will never win,” she wrote.

“Like the mountain I am standing on top of, which was once under water, connected with Africa, change is inevitable.

“The Dolomites were not created over night, it was over millions of years that this magnificent beauty was formed.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth met while filming romantic drama The Last Song in 2009 and got engaged in 2012 before calling time on the relationship one year later.

The couple then reconciled in 2016 and were married in a low-key ceremony in Tennessee in December 2018.

“I think it’s very confusing to people that I’m married,” she told the magazine. “But my relationship is unique.

“And I don’t know that I would ever publicly allow people in there because it’s so complex, and modern, and new that I don’t think we’re in a place where people would get it.”
