Linkin Park have posted a touching tribute to their frontman Chester Bennington, who has died, aged 41.

Bennington was found dead in a suspected suicide at a private residence in Los Angeles on Thursday, the Los Angeles County coroner has said.

Tributes flooded in from musicians before Linkin Park shared a poignant tweet to remember their late frontman.

The band posted a picture of Bennington performing on stage, surrounded by a sea of lights as hundreds of fans held up their phones to him.

They also used the image for their Twitter banner and changed the profile picture on the micro blogging site to one of Bennington.

It came hours after bandmates, Mike Shinoda and Dave ‘Phoenix’ Farrell said they had been left “heartbroken” in separate tributes.

Chance the Rapper, Rihanna and Imagine Dragons also paid tribute, as well as Stormzy who said he was praying for Bennington’s family.

He tweeted: “I am heartbroken you do not know what someone's going through serious. Prayers up for your family right now my brother.”

The date of Bennington's death, July 20, also marks what would have been the 53rd birthday of his close friend Chris Cornell, who died in May this year.
