Matt LeBlanc has revealed that his future on Top Gear is uncertain as he is yet to be ‘officially’ invited back to host the new series.

The former Friends star, who many viewers thought was the best part of the revamped motoring show, has said that he would ‘like to’ return.

Promoting new show Man With a Plan at an event on Wednesday, he told critics that he was still ‘unsure’ about Top Gear.

“I’m not sure what’s happening with Top Gear just yet, but this is my priority,” he said.

When asked about whether or not he would return, LeBlanc added: “I don’t know. I’d like to. There’s nothing officially happening just yet — call the BBC.”

LeBlanc’s co-host Chris Evans stepped down from his role on the show shortly after the series came to an end in June.

“Stepping down from Top Gear. Gave it my best shot but sometimes that's not enough. The team are beyond brilliant, I wish them all the best,” he tweeted.

He endorsed LeBlanc to take over as head presenter, telling the Mail on Sunday: “For me, he is the man.
