Mel B is still in talks to become an X Factor judge despite joining the panel of America's Got Talent.

The former Spice Girls singer was a huge hit on the ITV talent show when she was a stand-in judge on last year's series and now bosses are keen to sign her up full-time.

So boss Simon Cowell and other producers are considering starting the audition process in June - a month later than usual - so she can finish America's Got Talent and then join the panel.

A source said: "She's kept dialogue going with Simon and he hasn't ruled out bringing her over.

"He loved her bitching and thinks that she could help lift the show."

The show is currently looking for an outspoken female after Tulisa was given the axe last week and bosses think she is the ideal candidate to replace her.

Another insider said: "Mel did fantastically and proved a big draw on the ratings front.

"She is just what the show needs to liven it up - fresh, bolshy and opinionated - and Simon is a big fan.

"Mel is also Northern which, although it sounds ridiculous, has proved important with audiences up north.

"An initial deal has been agreed - it's now a case of trying to make Mel's AGT schedule fit around the X Factor."
