Miley Cyrus being sued for $300 million over We Can’t Stop copyright infringement

Miley Cyrus is facing a $300 million lawsuit over copyright infringement for hit song We Can’t Stop.

Michael May, a Jamaican artist better known as Flourgon, has claimed that the Wrecking Ball singer copied his lyrics in the song.

May alleged that Cyrus’ 2013 career-defining song ripped lyrics from his song We Run Things.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the dancehall artist claimed Cyrus’ used the same lyrical refrain and a “substantially similar hook”, citing the lyrics: “We run things, things don’t run we.”

The UK number-one song was a collaboration between Cyrus and a songwriting group which included hip-hop produce Mike Will Made It, Pierre Ramon Slaughter and 'Locked Away' duo Uptown AP and AI.

Hip-hop icons Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick were credited for the track's sampling, however the Flourgon track was not.

The news comes after Cyrus slammed “rude pregnancy rumours” after a Thanksgiving post.

The US singer, 25, sent Twitter into meltdown after she posted a picture of herself patting her stomach in a loose fitting T-shirt ahead of her birthday and Thanksgiving celebrations.

Cyrus joked that the bump was a “Vegan Turkey Baby”, but she was forced to clarify hours later after fans were left unconvinced by her ‘food baby’ claims and quickly speculated that she is expecting her first child with boyfriend Liam Hemsworth.

Cyrus posted the image for a second time in a bid to quash the speculation with the mock headline: “Miley Cyrus pregnant? Fans go wild after singer posts pic showing ‘bump’ ahead of Thanksgiving.”

Sharing the image on Twitter she wrote: “RUDE!!! Not pregnant just eating a s*** ton of tofurkey.”
