Miley Cyrus left her usual skimpy leotards at home to attend the World Music Awards in Monaco last night, opting for an elegant silver gown.

The singer picked up two awards for Best Female Act and Best Pop Video for her Wrecking Ball video filmed by controversial fashion photographer Terry Richardson.

She opted for a floor length sparkly dress with dewy make-up and her pixie cut worn with a side fringe.

For an emotional performance of Wrecking Ball, she wore a romantic strapless floral gown.

The Hannah Montana star took her 19 year old brother Braison as her guest and posted a photo of the pair to Instagram with the caption "My hawt date".

The awards got off to a difficult start, with host Sharon Stone failing to show, and Pamela Anderson having to step in at the last minute.

They were also reportedly delayed by more than an hour by Mariah Carey who was running late, although did later perform and accept the award for Pop Icon for selling over 200 million albums.

Other performers included Jason Derulo, Ricky Martin, Fall Out Boy and Flo Rida.
