Piers Morgan revealed he has been left with broken bones after falling on his “a***”.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 52, was left with three broken ribs after the accident and received treatment at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Announcing the news to his six million followers he tweeted: “BREAKING (literally...) NEWS: I've broken 3 ribs falling flat on my a***.

“Thanks to @ChelwestFT staff for speedy treatment (sic).”

He struggled to receive any sympathy online with many hailing his misfortune “good news”.

Others were concerned for his welfare – but only because they feared he would be unable to return to Good Morning Britain to take back his position from Jeremy Kyle.

One user tweeted: “Nobody cares about your broken ribs you fat attention seeking c***.”

Morgan fired back: “Many thanks for your kind thoughts, Jake. They are greatly appreciated at this difficult time.”

Despite the lack of sympathy, Good Morning Britain viewers have been counting down the days until Morgan returns to the show after handing over the reins to Jeremy Kyle and Richard Madeley.

Kyle was slated for being “too shouty” and accused of treating his co-host Kate Garraway “like garnish” and “talking over everyone”.

One Twitter user posted: “It’s not until you switch on GMB and see Jeremy Kyle that you realise you’re missing Piers Morgan.”

Another wrote: “So my joy at Piers Morgan not being on #GMB is very short lived when I realise he's been replaced by Jeremy Kyle *switches over*.”

Morgan returns to Good Morning Britain with Susanna Reid on September 4.
