Piers Morgan has slammed Jennifer Aniston for speaking out about self-doubt and body insecurities.

The journalist and presenter told viewers that the A-lister needed to ‘get a grip’ after breaking down in a video at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy this week.

Speaking on Tuesday’s Good Morning Britain, Morgan said that the former Friends star had ‘put herself out there’ on magazine covers, so had no right to complain.

“If it's going to upset you, don't put your body out there and do hundreds of magazine covers,” he said.

“You do have a choice. Nobody forced her to do naked magazine shoots.

“When you put your body out there like that, you're making your body a commodity and everyone can have a slice of the pie.”

He added: “Nobody has to post a picture on Instagram or Twitter or Facebook. Nobody in Hollywood is legally compelled to do naked magazine covers.

“If you choose to for those things you can't go 'Oh poor me'. Get a grip!

"Remember, half the world is starving. There are people out there who have no money, no mansion, no Ferrari, no handsome Hollywood husband like Jennifer.

“That's my take on this. Get a grip, Jennifer.”

Co-host Susanna Reid was more sympathetic to Aniston, saying that there will be girls out there who can relate.

“I think she is someone who is trapped by eternal judgement and she's held to this standard on the way she looks,” she said.

“There will girls out there who put pictures on Instagram who can relate to Jennifer's instagram. But I do get your point Piers, if you don't want this, don't post.”

Aniston was responding to the questions of a teenage fan at the film festival who asked if she ever woke up and felt like she didn’t know who she was.

“There are not enough fingers and toes in this entire room to count how many times that moment has happened to me,” Aniston responded.

“We're all human beings at the end of the day, whether we're a waitress or a baker or a student or whatever we are, at the end of the day you kind of can hit walls and think I can't go any farther.

“Or this is too much. My heart can't take it or the pain is too great, or am I good enough? Will I survive?"

She added: “I think we need to empower women to not just be about dresses and beauty and selfies.

“We need to start having conversations and put our phones down and get out of social media, take social media breaks.”
