Fans made way for Prince Ali as London prepared for the opening night of new musical, Aladdin.

A host of stars walked the 'magic' carpet as they stepped out to support the cast of the hotly anticipated production.

EastEnders actress Preeya Kalidas was among the first to arrive at the Prince Edward Theatre and looked stunning in a long black gown.

She was swiftly joined by fellow soap star Katherine Kelly who was in attendance with her husband Ryan Clark.

McFly's Tom Fletcher also stepped out with his partner Giovanna Fletcher. The pair enjoyed a rare date night after welcoming their second child in February.

Acting heavyweight Luke Evans put on a casual display in an open neck shirt which he teamed with a grey jacket and sunglasses while The Voice's Ricky Wilson suited up as he posed for selfies with waiting fans.

Comedian Rufus Hound made sure to show his support by coordinating his velvet jacket with the magic carpet.

Actress Cynthia Erivo hot footed it over from the Tony Awards to support Dean John-Wilson who plays the titular character alongside former Sugababe Jade Ewen as Princess Jasmine.

Excited ahead of the performance, Erivo tweeted a picture of John-Wilson in costume alongside the caption: “Today I get to see my gorgeous other half as Aladdin in @AladdinLondon shine baby!!!”

The musical is based on the 1992 Disney animated film of the same name. It tells the story of street urchin Aladdin as he attempts to win the affections of Princess Jasmine with a little help from a Genie.

Trevor Dion Nicholas - who plays the lamp dwelling character - recently opened up about tackling a role made famous by the late Robin Williams.

Speaking to Standard Online he said: “What made Genie work is how much of Robin Williams’ personality comes through – and that’s what’s going to work here: I’m putting myself into it, finding the common ground between the Genie and me.”

Sherlock's Andrew Scott, violinist Linzi Stoppard and presenter Jenni Falconer were also in attendance.
