Scarlett Johansson is preparing for a ‘dream wedding’ in her adopted city of Paris to Frenchman Romain Dauriac, it emerged today.

The 28-year-old Hollywood star has confirmed that she is engaged to the 31-year-old former journalist, who now works in PR.

The pair currently spend almost all their spare time on the capital’s Left Bank of the River Seine, in the upmarket St Germain des Pres district.

‘Scarlett has fallen in love with the place and wants to marry here,’ said a neighbour of the couple, who have been living in a flat close to the Luxembourg Gardens.

‘Scarlett is out in the bars and restaurants all the time, and often chats to us. Her French isn’t very good, but she’s says it will soon improve as she’s going to be living with Romain here.

‘They’ve been checking out a lot of the beautiful churches in the area – Scarlett said it would be her dream to marry in Paris. She’s in love with everything – the food, the music of Serge Gainsbourg and even the accordion players.’

Scarlett and Romain’s Paris is just above a café, but they hope to find a bigger place to start married life together, said the source.

They have even been seen racing around the ancient streets of the capital on a scooter. ‘They live just like Parisians already – they will be so happy here,’ said the source.

Roman was once the editor of Clark, a ‘street culture’ magazine which come out four times a year in France and is designed for the 16 to 35 year old age group.
Now, however, he runs a PR agency, arranging publicity for companies and individuals in France.

Friends in Paris said the couple met last year through Scarlett’s tattoo artist, a man who calls himself Fuzi UVPTK. He inked the actress with a horseshoe symbol and the legend ‘Lucky You’.

Scarlett’s spokesman said: 'I can confirm that Scarlett and Romain are engaged. They haven’t chosen a date for the wedding.’

Scarlett has been promoting her new film, Under The Skin, at the 70th Annual Venice International Film Festival.

Romain, who was in Italy with her, has presented her with a vintage Art Deco ring to seal their engagement.

The divorced Scarlett admitted last year that she liked being married but hinted that she wasn't interested in tying the knot again for quite a while.

She said, 'I got married when I was young and it was incredibly romantic and I liked being married, actually.

'But it is different. It's hard to put into words. To me, being in a functioning relationship doesn't mean you have to be married.

'I never think about marriage. Is that weird? The only time I ever think about it is when people ask me. It's really not important to me.'

Scarlett was married to Canadian actor Ryan Reynolds in 2008, before officially divorcing on July 1, 2011.

The Green Lantern star went on to marry Gossip Girl's Blake Lively.
