Favourite Cleo Higgins was eliminated from The Voice last night as the show saw a huge leap in its ratings.

The BBC 1 talent show semi-final piled on more than a million and a half extra viewers last night with 5.8 million watching Matt Henry, Andrew Begley, Leah McFall and Mike Ward making it through to the final next weekend.

Leah is now leading the way into the final as both the judges and hopefuls admitted they were shocked to see Cleo leave.

Leah, 23: "I'm so surprised. She was incredible, she killed it man."

The pair were both other the guidance of coach will.i.am, who collaborated with them on a performance of Blondie's Rapture.

It was Leah's take on Roberta Flack's hit Killing Me Softly which helped see her through, despite Cleo's fantastic rendition of Don't Let Go by En Vogue.

Although she has left the show, will.i.am revealed he'd look forward to working with his former team member in the future.

He told her: "I want to say you really inspired me Cleo. To see what we went through in the rehearsal and for you to step forward and say 'no, I want to do this', and how you conducted the band.

"You are an amazing artist. I would love to work with you."
