Uma Thurman has admitted that ditching the mascara and altering her make-up were to blame for her “weird” new look.

The Pulp Fiction actress shocked fans when she stepped out looking noticeably different at the premiere of her new mini-series, The Slap in New York City this week.

When asked about her new look on the Today Show Thurman, 44, said: “I know I look weird. I don’t know, I guess nobody liked my make-up.”

A lack of mascara and eyeliner as well as slicked back hair are believed to be the reason behind Thurman’s visibly smoother appearance.

Thurman said that she won't be letting the negative comments get her down. She said: “I’ve been doing this for years and years and years. People say things nice and they say things mean and it’s just like ‘whatever’. You take the good with the bad.”

Thurman isn’t the first actress to shock fans with a decidedly different appearance. Late last year Renee Zellweger debuted a drastic new look as she attended ELLE's 21st annual Women In Hollywood Awards.
