Jade Ellis blames tactical voting for her X Factor axe.

The mother-of-one - who performed Dido's White Flag in the sing-off against Union J on Sunday - believes she delivered a better performance than her rivals but the judges opted to save the boy band because they want to protect their own acts for future shows.

Jade - who was saved only by her mentor Tulisa Contostavlos - said: "Judges are thinking about their own acts as well as the acts on stage.

"Although people are saying I was better in the sing-off, I believe the judges' decision is taken about the whole show.

"I don't think the decision on Sunday was based entirely on the sing-off.

"The vote could have been tactical. Maybe the judges thought Union J were less of a threat to their singers in the competition.

"It is getting to that point in the game where the judges all criticise each other's acts. But whatever the reasoning, I don't think they did it lightly."

When he opted to save Union J, judge Gary Barlow told Jade: "You're a phenomenal singer, you're incredible. But sometimes I worry I want this for you more than you do."

Jade admits she was upset by his comments, and refused to speak to the Take That star after the show.

She said: "I don't agree at all.

"I don't think anybody would leave a young child at home for that length of time if they didn't really want what they were doing to be a success.

"Maybe he wanted me to look a bit more desperate for it.

"He was probably the only judge that I didn't speak to afterwards."
