David Beckham's move to Los Angeles is less about football and more about trailing after wife Victoria, according cheeky former footballer Vinnie Jones.

Jones, who was a guest on US program The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson, quipped: "Well, he's only coming to look after Posh's handbags isn't he?"

Ferguson, a comedian, chimed in: "Be fair, David's got his own handbags to look after. He can't be looking after Posh's handbags too."

Clearly Jones, now an actor, feels little solidarity with David, despite sharing his British heritage, love of football and expat American lifestyle.

Powerhouse couple David and Victoria have been a fixture on the Hollywood circuit since moving to the States earlier this year, after he signed on to play with LA Galaxy.

Between regular shopping trips, Posh has been working on reality series for US network NBC, which reportedly charts her relocation from London to LA.
