TV comedian Ricky Gervais said today he wanted Terminator actor-turned politician Arnold Schwarzenegger to star in a new series of his hit show Extras.

The creator of The Office says he plans to make a third series of Extras and has a "wish list" of top celebrities he wants to appear in it.

He told the Daily Mirror: "People seem to like it and I think that there's some mileage in it.

"My wish list for guests to appear in another series is as long as your arm, but [California] Governor Schwarzenegger has to be there."

Along with Schwarzenegger, he wants Meryl Streep, Bruce Willis, Dick van Dyke and Mickey Rooney to appear on the BBC2 show.

Gervais, 45, said: "They are icons for me."
