Originally set to take place in Britain, volcanic ash meant that London was deprived of hosting the Iron Man 2 premiere.

Our loss was Hollywood's gain as A listers strutted down the red carpet at at the El Capitan Theater.

Quirky look: Gwyneth Paltrow works her long legs in a funky short suit

As well as the likes of Sylvester Stallone and new cast member Scarlet Johansson the old Iron Man favourites were all in attendance. But it was Gwyneth Paltrow's choice of outfit that got everyone talking.

Taking inspiration for this season's hot new trend for men she showed off her long legs in a 'short suit'. Giving us a feminine take on the look with a sexy off white blazer and no top, she proved that trouser suits are so last season.

Teamed with black peep toe shoe boots and a little black satin handbag, she was bang on trend.

Stylish: have Robert Downey Jr and Sylvester Stallone been taking style tips from each other?

Never one to be outdone as far is fashion is concerned, Robert Downey Jr. looked typically quirky and added funky sunglasses and a faux flower to his suit.

Talking about returning to his role as Tony Stark he said: "I know that Stan Lee said that Iron Man got more female fan mail than all the other superheroes put together-probably because he's a bit more vulnerable and reminds them of their snotty boyfriends that they wish to calm down."

Glamorous: new Iron Man cast member Scarlett Johansson looked every inch the Hollywood star in her little white dress

Whatever the reason, we bet Robert is glad to be back in the hotseat as the ladies' favourite superhero.
