Keke Palmer gives birth to first child and reveals her baby boy’s unique name

Keke Palmer has announced that she has given birth to her first child with boyfriend Darius Jackson.

The Nope actress, 29, took to Instagram on Monday to share the happy news and to give a fans a first-look at her adorable newborn son.

She also took the opportunity to reveal the unique name that they have decided to give the tot – Leodis Andrellton Jackson.

According to Nameberry, the name Leodis – pronounced Le-od-is – is Celtic in origin and means “people living by the strongly flowing river”.

‘Hey Son!!!!’ Palmer wrote alongside her post. “Born during Black History Month, with a name to match.”

Explaining that she and Jackson had been parents for 48 hours, the lengthy caption read: “Darius always made me playlists when we first started dating, Someone by El Debarge was a favourite. We became each other’s someone and made a someone, look at God!”

She continued: “I’m not hiding the world from my son, I’m hiding my son from the world,” before adding: “Hahaha ... I’m just playing, my baby face is on this slide.”

Her celebrity friends were quick to offer their congratulations in the comments section.

“Big congrats! Welcome to the club”, wrote singer Big Sean.

“So precious,” cooed Halle Bailey, star of the of the upcoming Disney live action version of The Little Mermaid.

While actress Lupita Nyong'o added: “So happy for you!”

Palmer first announced that she was pregnant in dramatic fashion by unveiling her growing bump while delivering an opening monologue during an appearance on Saturday Night Live back in December.

“There’s some rumours going around...” she began. “People have been in my comments saying, ‘Keke’s having a baby, Keke’s pregnant,’ and I want to set the record straight.”
