Luca Bish has thanked fans for their support after it was revealed that he and Gemma Owen had split up.

The daughter of retired England football star Michael Owen and fishmonger Bish met when taking part in the ITV reality show Love Island.

Owen was the first to reveal that they had split on Wednesday, just over three months after they left the Love Island villa.

“It wasn’t an easy decision but this ultimately is what is best for us both right now,” the dressage champ, 19, wrote on her Instagram Stories.

“Many of you have been on this journey with us from the very beginning and I want to thank you for your continued support as we start new chapters. Love always. Gem x.”

Bish, 23, later confirmed that they had made “the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways”. Having stayed silent since then, on Sunday he posted a selfie of himself on Instagram chilling out in a hoodie on his sofa.

“Glad this week is over. Thank you for all the kind messages,” he wrote alongside the image.

His fellow Love Island stars, including Andrew Le Page and Jacques O’Neill, were quick to comment on the post.

O’Neill — who has also previously dated Owen — wrote: “My brother always got you,” followed by a red love heart emoji.

Le Page suggested Bish should travel from his native Brighton to meet up with him, saying: “Get up to London soon brother,” along with a kiss.
