A new exhibition of work at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens suggests that commuters are missing out on the dazzling culture of the high street.

American artist Dan Flavin created stunning art using fluorescent light bulbs and industrial material normally found in shop windows and offices. It is the first time his work has been on view in Britain and spans his career which started in the Sixties. Flavin died in 1996, aged 63.

Michael Govern, director of the Dia Centre for the Arts in New York and the curator who brought the work to London, said: ?Dan used industrial material found in shops and offices to create art which even to day looks like something quite radical.??
