Sam Faiers and Joey Essex were "pushed together" on 'The Only Way Is Essex'.

The 20-year-old beauty - who called time on her four-month relationship with her co-star in July - admitted the pair only ended up starting a romance because of the situations producers of the ITV2 reality show would put them in.

She said: "That's how Joey and I got together really, you end up spending a lot of time with people you might not usually spend time with.

"In series two, Joey and I were both single and they put us in these big group situations and just sort of pushed us together.

"I'm not going to lie, we probably only ended up getting together because of the show. Feelings come about that might not be there in a normal day-to-day situation."

Despite Sam having moved on with new man T.J, she explained she still has "feelings" for Joey and thinks their relationship would have survived had it been "five years down the line".

Speaking at the launch of 'The Only Way Is Essex' series two DVD at HMV in London's Westfield Stratford City yesterday, Sam added: "It's fine with Joey, I spoke to him today and we've sort of cleared the air. We've never argued about anything, we've always been quite grown up about the whole situation.

"I still have feelings for him and I think he's a lovely guy, but it's just the wrong time. If I had met him five years down the line it would have probably worked out. It was just wrong place, wrong time.

"I think it came across on the show that he was more into me than I was into him, but when we were together it really wasn't like that at all. He was a boy and was really soppy and I was always like, 'Oh come on, Joey'. But behind closed doors we got on really, really well."
