Fans have been given a much-awaited glimpse of Tom Hardy’s Venom in a new trailer after the last teaser failed to feature the new super villain.

The first film in Sony’s ‘Spiderverse’, the Venom trailer has been viewed over 12 million times on YouTube as well as topping the Trending shortlist.

In the three minute trailer, viewers gain insight into key aspects of the comic book film’s storyline as well as snippets from Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, and Tom Hardy’s respective performances.

Most importantly, the chilling trailer provides fans with a close shot of the amorphous alien being, honing in on his reptile-like features and giving a haunting view of its monstrous fangs.

This new teaser footage follows fans’ disappointment with the last clip of the upcoming Sony film, where the title character was kept under wraps presumably because filming had only finished two weeks prior.

Hardy leads the cast in his performance as Eddie Brock, an investigative reporter who sets his sights on Dr. Carlton Drake’s suspected fatal experiments on test subjects involved with alien symbiotes.

Over the course of his investigation, Eddie comes into contact with the symbiote and Venom begins to infiltrate his body, in classic comic-book movie fashion.

The trailer concludes with the chilling image of the monster holding the criminal up by the neck as he utters the words, “we are Venom.”

Inspired by comic-books from the late 90s, this movie is the first in Sony’s series of films that are set in the same comic-book universe as Spiderman, all without featuring the teenage superhero whose creative rights are owned by competitor Marvel.

From the director of cult classic Zombieland, Ruben Fleischer’s first comic-book film is due to hit cinemas on 5th October 2018.
