Manchester City's new record signing Sergio Aguero believes the club will be contenders for major honours in the near future.

The 23-year-old completed his £35million transfer from Atletico Madrid on Thursday evening, signing a five-year deal, and immediately set his sights on bringing more silverware to the Etihad Stadium. Roberto Mancini's side ended the club's 35-year wait for a trophy by lifting the FA Cup in May and will play in the Champions League for the first time this season.

"I saw the game (FA Cup final) and I think we are a team that in the future will be fighting every year to win major trophies," said Aguero on mcfc.co.uk.

"Let's hope that it's quite a few major trophies."

The Argentina international does not reckon he will have any problems adapting to English football.

"I think in terms of technique the leagues are similar. Maybe the game is more physical in England and there is a greater emphasis on tactics in Spain," he added.

"From what I've seen on TV there is a high level of skill here.

"It is quite different but I need to wait for my first game, go out and do my best and find out for real what it's like, because playing is not the same as watching it on TV.

"My style has always been to fight to the death for every ball, and give 100% in every game.

"I'm not a player who can do everything, but I still have plenty to offer. I don't think I'll have too many problems settling into the team."
