Ancelotti: 100%, Terry stays

12 April 2012

Manager Carlo Ancelotti is certain Chelsea captain John Terry will remain with the club despite the overtures of Manchester City.

Terry is a target for City boss Mark Hughes, who believes he can tempt the England skipper away from Stamford Bridge, but - despite much speculation over the defender's future - Ancelotti remains convinced he will stay.

Ancelotti who, like Terry, is currently on Chelsea's tour of America told BBC Sport: "I am sure he will remain at Chelsea. I am sure, 100%. He has a contract for three years more and this is the situation now."

Striker Salomon Kalou, meanwhile, believes that City's astonishing bargaining power will not turn Terry's head.

A deal of up to £200,000 a week is thought to be on offer in addition to a transfer fee of around £30million but Kalou does not believe money comes into it.

Kalou said: "He doesn't pay attention to that. Maybe if he was paying attention to that it might disturb a little bit of the team, but you can tell he is not disturbed by this situation."
