Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti has played down speculation linking England left-back Ashley Cole with a summer move away from Stamford Bridge and insists the club have no plans to bid for Liverpool frontman Fernando Torres.

On reports linking World Cup-winning Spain forward Torres with a move to the Barclays Premier League champions, the Ancelotti told Chelsea's official website: "I don't think we need other strikers - nothing has changed because in the next days come back (Didier) Drogba, (Nicolas) Anelka and (Salomon) Kalou and we have (Daniel) Sturridge."

Meanwhile, Cole is reportedly on the radar of Real Madrid since the appointment of former Blues boss Jose Mourinho to the Bernabeu hotseat, but Ancelotti has no plans to let the 29-year-old leave.

Speaking after Saturday's 1-0 friendly win at Crystal Palace, the 51-year-old Italian added: "I didn't speak with him. I don't need to speak with him and he doesn't need to speak to me. He is a player of Chelsea, did a fantastic season for us and will be an important player for us next season - 100%."
