Antoine Kombouare: Patrick Vieira fancies PSG move

13 April 2012

New Paris St Germain coach Antoine Kombouare claims France captain Patrick Vieira is keen to join the capital club but admits his salary could be a stumbling block.

The future of the Inter Milan midfielder, who turned 33 today, remains shrouded in doubt as he no longer commands a regular first-team place for the Italian champions.

Some reports suggest Nerazzurri coach Jose Mourinho is ready to offload Vieira this summer and, if that was the case, the former Arsenal man looks likely to return to France.

Kombouare told French radio station RMC: "(We spoke) on the phone. He longed to come to PSG, to work together... He knows in particular that he needs a season to get back (to his best) with the 2010 World Cup in mind.

"But our concern is of course the salary. He is ready to make an effort, but to what level? Anyway, I do not manage the financial aspect.

"(PSG president) Sebastien Bazin and Patrick Vieira are in negotiations. We will see if it is to be or not."
