Arsenal are ready to move for Werder Bremen's 23-year-old midfielder Diego if Alexander Hleb leaves this summer.
Manager Arsene Wenger will be under pressure to make an impact signing and Diego, capped 34 times by Brazil, certainly fits the bill.

Arsenal have applied for a work permit for their 19-year-old Mexico striker, Carlos Vela.
He has not played in England since signing for Arsenal in 2005, but Wenger is confident he can compete in the Barclays Premier League after an impressive loan spell at Osasuna.
