Back to the future: Okoye evokes spirit of 1948

Lawrence Okoye today recreated the iconic image from the last time the capital hosted the Games 64 years ago.

The 20-year-old discus thrower, from Croydon, is expected to be among the 550-strong British team at next year's Olympics.

After the British Airways organised shoot, Okoye said: "The 1948 image is incredibly striking and it was an honour to help recreate. I'll be getting a copy and, hopefully, this time next year it'll be on the mantelpiece alongside a gold medal."
