Barton arrested over Dabo clash - Report

12 April 2012

Manchester City's Joey Barton has been arrested for his part in the training-ground altercation with team-mate Ousmane Dabo, according to reports.

Barton, 24, was suspended for the last two games of City's season by former manager Stuart Pearce after a training ground bust-up with the Frenchman, which also resulted in an internal investigation.

Dabo was left needing hospital treatment and later spoke to police about the alleged assault and a police spokesman confirmed: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Section 20 assault following an incident when a 30-year-old man was assaulted at Carrington."

The Guardian report that the man, thought to be Barton, has been bailed until July 11, while City players and Pearce, who was sacked on Monday after a disappointing campaign at Eastlands, could be interviewed about the incident.
