Bentley set for Tottenham medical after Spurs up bid to £15m for winger

In demand: David Bentley

David Bentley is expected to have a medical at White Hart Lane on Wednesday morning before becoming Juande Ramos's ninth signing at .

Blackburn chairman John Williams confirmed on Tuesday that the club were in negotiations with Spurs, who are understood to have upped their bid to around £15million plus add-ons.

Ramos is wasting no time spending the £19m raised from the sale of striker Robbie Keane to Liverpool as he gives his attacking options an overhaul.

The Spaniard has already signed Croatia playmaker Luka Modric from Dinamo Zagreb and talented Mexico forward Giovani dos Santos from Barcelona. England starlet John Bostock, meanwhile, joined from Crystal Palace.

A bid in excess of £15m for 23-year-old England winger Bentley would take Ramos's spending to more than £65m since he took over from Martin Jol seven months ago. But he has also brought in funds from the sale of Keane, as well as moving on Pascal Chimbonda, Teemu Tainio and Paul Robinson this summer.

Bulgaria striker Dimitar Berbatov, valued at more than £30m, could be the next to move in a summer of comings and goings at White Hart Lane, giving Spurs even more money to spend.
