Betting: Cricket tips

James Goldman13 April 2012

If England's cricketers have mastered one thing on their winter tour of the Caribbean it is the art of stating the obvious.

When Ravi Bopara had a microphone shoved in front of him on Monday the Essex all-rounder told us that England are yet to find a way of using their batting power plays to their advantage.

Cheers for that gem Ravi, but the sight of England's openers struggling to hit the ball off the square in the opening 10 overs is a far from uncommon occurrence.

Bopara is the latest man to be shoved up the order in a desperate attempt to add some attacking impetus, and the initial evidence suggests this experiment could do more harm than good to one of England's genuinely talented limited overs players.

In the opening match of this series England scored 17 compared to the Windies' 52 in their respective five over power play spells.

It was closer on Sunday, but it's safe to assume the home side will get off to a faster start again tomorrow.

Recommended bet: W Indies first 10 overs, 4-5 (Bet365).
