Bolton duo agree new deals

12 April 2012

Bolton have received a double boost with two of their longest-serving players signing new contracts.

Goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and full back Ricardo Gardner have put pen to paper on four and three-year deals respectively.

Jaaskelainen has emerged as one of the top shot-stoppers in the Premier League while Bolton have shown loyalty to Gardner despite his injury problems.

Jaaskelainen, 33, is now expected to see out his career at the Reebok Stadium in what has become a home from home for the Finland international.

He will start the next season in his tenth year for the club after making his debut against Crystal Palace in the second tier in August 1998.

Jaaskelainen has gone on to make the number one spot his own but there were fears he would leave this summer as he was out of contract.

However with Bolton managing to avert relegation he has decided to stay on and continue to work with manager Gary Megson.

Gardner also made his debut in 1998 and the 29-year-old Jamaican has shown his adaptability by playing in midfield as well as defence.
