Bonds walking to new record

13 April 2012

The major league home run record eluded San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds, but he edged closer to Babe Ruth's record for most walks in a season against the timid Houston Astros.

Bonds needs one run to tie the single-season homer record of 70 set in 1998 by Mark McGwire. He also only needs one walk to tie Babe Ruth's 1927 record of 170 walks.

Astros pitcher Shane Reynolds intentionally walked him twice, causing the Enron field record crowd of 43,548 to boo several times.
