Bopara would reconsider IPL decision

12 April 2012

Ravi Bopara has admitted he will reassess his decision not to participate in the Indian Premier League next season if he continues to be overlooked by England.

The Essex all-rounder revealed earlier in the season that he turned down a substantial offer from an unnamed IPL franchise in order to remain in county cricket and push for a recall to the international set-up.

He told The Guardian: "The decision I made was just based on this season. I don't know what my decisions will be in the future, but if things continue as they are and the offer comes along again then I may have to reconsider my options."

He added: "But I'm hungry for runs this season and hopefully that will be enough to get me back into the England side.

"The England team picked itself for this summer - they'd won the series in New Zealand and the batsmen in particular were doing well," he told The Guardian.

"I understood that and knew I had to prove myself again to get back into contention by playing four-day cricket for Essex and doing well."
